This was a good book. The second in the series, it didn't let things go very slowly. It was actually pretty quickly paced and full of adventures. I would say that Armstrong actually took a few more chances in this book than in the first one. There were more scenes that I found myself surprised by.
This was thankfully not a disappointment, so I will read the third one =) ...more

Betrayals and action. Whew! I liked this book more than the first. It gets more "supernatural" and interesting. The first book was so so with barely any action. This one is nonstop running. :)
Still... I don't like it when books aren't so stand-alone-ish... This book doesn't resolve anything... I need to continue to the next to get some kind of closure I think... Good thing the series is only a trilogy... or else... I'll go nuts! :) It's a good story and I can't wait to know what happens next... ...more

This continues where the first book, The Summoning, so if you have yet to read to read, go and read it first. The Awakening is a bit slower paced than the first book. It focuses on Chloe and her friends, as they try and deal with what has happened to them. A nice touch is the reference to the werewolves living nearby, which fans of Kelley Armstrong's will recognise the reference. I did find the ending a little anti-climatic but I put this down to it being the second book in a trilogy.

I enjoyed this more than expected. Based on the ending of the first book, I thought this was going to be much different than it was and I'm glad it went in the new direction. The gang's interactions are fun (especially the squabbling) and I like seeing their powers grow. This book also ends on a cliff-hanger, but that is somewhat expected in a trilogy. I'm looking forward to the next one.
