I'm hooked on this series. Cat is a great protagonist, kicks some serious undead butt and has a snarky, fun sense of humor and major parental issues to make things interesting , curses like a longshoreman and drinks gin like it was water. Her vampire beau Bones is....well, Bones is MINE! Hands off. I also like her new FBI colleagues. A nice bunch of tough, likeable characters with great banter among them like a good ensemble TV show.
The love scenes were hot, but a little over-the top this time. ...more

The thing is I'm stuck visualising Spike everytime Bones says anything - especially "luv" - not necessarily a bad thing but a bit distracting.
I enjoyed this, though I didn't feel Cat was as strong as in the first - her attitude was more bitch than brass. Still it was an easy fast paced read, some solid new characters - especially the team.
I started the next At Grave's End straight after finishing this. ...more

Oh my Bones you naughty thing…
Its official, i have a new fictional character crush...
Ok yes he may be tied to Cat. Ok yes Cat has her issues in this book, such as having someone try to assassinate her. I won't give away anything as this book was meant to be enjoyed.
And I know once I start talking about one thing, it will probably get me on to another point and those points I may as well be tell you the whole book

I don't know why I waited so long to continue reading this series. I loved the first book and had intended to read the others right away. This book did not disappoint and I enjoyed the reader very much even though Bones doesn't sound quite right to me.

I might have enjoyed this more if the narrator's voice for Bones didn't make him sound like an old lady...
