Interesting book. It reads like a lot of teen books read nowadays, however, it has adult language and content. That being said, I was glad that I wasn't beaten over the head with sexual content. Sure it was there, but that was not the main emphasis of the story.
What I didn't like very much was the ending. It left too many questions unanswered. Darn it, now I will have to get the next book sooner than I anticipated. I must know what happens next! ...more

I loved this book. :)
After my friends repeatedly told me to check out this book, I finally did and boy was I happy.
Macayla Lane is a normal, girl next door - American girl, until the murder of her older sister, Alina, in Dublin that changes it all. Needing answers, she goes to Dublin. Once in Dublin, everything that she once knew to be true seem to be more than what they seem. She meets Jericho Barrons, a mysterious stranger, who is the only one who bothers answering her questions. As Mac keeps ...more

I'll give this 3.5
I'm surprised how much I liked this because I've read a few faery books and were so so. I don't know I guess I just don't see the appeal of them like I do with werewolves and vampires and other paranormal creatures.
I think the reason why I liked Darkfever better than other faery book I've read is because its more adult and has that little bit of mystery that keeps the reader guessing. I'm actually intrigued with the series and I can't wait to see where Moning takes this series ...more

I actually really liked this book. I give it a good and solid 4 stars.
I think that this book is actually really good. MacKayla Lane just lost her sister while her sister was studying abroad for school. When she goes over to Ireland to look into her sister's murder, she realizes that the world isn't the picture perfect world complete with pretty pink fingernails. There are Fae in her world that are all in search of the Dark Book. Her sister got caught up in the middle of it, and now it seems MacK ...more

I wasn't a big fan of this book. It was a bit slow moving for me. I wanted more chemisrty between Jericho and Mac and more suspense. I'll check out the next book to see if it gets better.

Not quite what I expected. There are two naked people on the cover, I was under the impression there was some romance in here, nope nada nothing.
I wanted to smack Mac around quite a few times, she was just quite dumb. The world created here was a bit creepy, and confusing. The ending was a bit of a let down.

the characters are okay, but the writing is jumpy. Sometimes she's (Mac) talking to you, other times it's the story. The big issue I have is that one of the main characters name is spelled differently. Sometimes it's Barrens other times it's Barrons, even on the same page. I've read that this first book is so so, but the series gets better, so I will continue.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars. I was happily surprised by this book. I started the first chapters of it and hated Mac and her snooty attitude, but as the chapters went on and she arrived in Dublin there was tons of interest added and she became someone I wanted to read about. It definitely was a beginning of a series that I am really excited to continue.

I loved the book as a whole. But, I was expecting more from the ending. It seemed like it was rushed compared to the rest of the book. If it wasn't for that, I would've rated it 5 stars.
