Okay! I cannot for the life of me understand the multiple 5-star reviews! The average 4.5 star GR rating! The best romantasy of the year? The constant talk on booktok & bookstagram?! No! This was NOT good! Now I will admit when I first started this book I was enjoying it, but it went nowhere! Nothing happened! I was incredibly bored! There are too many things about this book I dislike than like.

I was all over the place with this book. I liked it, then I didn’t, then it picked up & I liked it again, then just as quickly once again I didn’t. It was like that alllll the way through the book. There is a fine line between stupid and brave and the MC danced on that line & tripped into stupid way too many times for my liking. She confused strength and bravery with stubbornness and stupidity A LOT.

This book had me in a chokehold by the third chapter - the fantasy politics, the monsters and myths, and the main character raised to disappear and forced into a sudden marriage all made me want more. I was fascinated by all the secrets that were uncovered throughout the book, found the love interest fantastic, and rooted for them to find a way to save their peoples and their marriage.
