I struggled with this one a little.
I didn't dislike it, but I struggled with the constant attempted murder - I swear she had 2-3 attempts on her life per day - and the way people like that store lady just hated her utterly without ever having met her.
And I struggled with how, given all that, she still would do things like take walks alone at night. It was a bit TSTL.
I am giving her the benefit of the doubt, though, for a couple reasons. First, this is apparently a brand-new thing - she's lived h ...more

I don’t know why I went into this book expecting it to wow me. It may have been the way it began because I thought it was going to be about a kickass female character. She had been surviving on her own for a while with unsavory characters hunting for her, after all. The protagonist was also a rape survivor — don’t get me started on how I hate when authors use rape as a backstory for characters. As soon as she entered into a relationship, though, she turned into a helpless damsel-in-distress. Wha ...more
The Slaughtered Lamb, hung down from the carved entrance. It was an exact replica of the one in the film An American Werewolf in London. It was my nerdy nod to being an American werewolf behind the bar. The Slaughtered Lamb was for supernaturals only. After all, everyone needed a strong drink and a good book. The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar is owned and operated by Sam Quinn (sole werewolf shifter in San Fran). Her employees include "Owen, [her] trusty boy Friday and wicche extraordin ...more
The title should be Sam gets attacked again and again and again...
What I enjoyed:
* The side characters. Dave the demon cook and Owen the wiche as well as the regulars at the bar
* The chapter titles tended to be funny and on point
* The Slaughtered Lamb itself sounds amazing and like a place that would be cool to visit

Despite a few TSTL moments, I really enjoyed this one. It was entertaining enough that I can overlook them.
The Bookstore & Bar were intriguing and it was wonderful to meet all the characters that regard Sam as one of them.
Despite being a werewolf for 7 yrs, she knows nothing about them and has no clue her mother was a wicche. Everyone else knows though.
Looking forward to the evil villain getting hers, in the future.
