Really enjoyed this one. I was a little put off when I first realized that this next book in the Wicked Lovely series was not going to be centered on Ash, but would be an installment much like the story of Lesley, Niall and Irial, but I'll tell you. I'm glad Marr has written these and given them more than a Novella because they add so much to the world of Wicked Lovely and I find myself loving these characters so much...even if I'm going crazy wondering what is going to happen with Ash and Seth! ...more

My Thoughts:

I thought about waiting until tomorrow to write my review but there's alot of info to take in & I wanted to write it while it was still fresh in my mind.

First, Aislinn, Keenan, Donia & a few other characters are completely absent in the fourth addition to this series. Apparently Keenan is off playing hooky somewhere. Not that I'm complaining. I am beyond sick of this Aislinn/Seth/Keenan love triangle, not to mention I'm pretty disgusted with Aislinn right now after all that crap that My Thoughts:

I am beyond sick of this Aislinn/Seth/Keenan love triangle, not to mention I'm pretty disgusted with Aislinn right now after all that crap that went down in Fragile Eternity. Yes, I realize Aislinn is just a teen & teens can be deluded/flaky/confused sometimes but Seth is around her age & he's so much more mature than her. Look, trick, your the Queen of Summer now. Woman up & stop acting like a toddler.

Anyway, it toke me quite awhile to get into this story & I went back & forth on how to rate it up until the last 100 or so pages. The last part more than made up for the monotony of the beginning & middle for me. You could look at this as Devlin & Ani's love story but of course it's so much more with all this court intrigue. We're introduced to a new character, Rae, although it's unclear what role she will play in the future. While I did like Rae & Devlin, Ani annoyed me pretty much throughout the novel. I've always found it hard to believe these ancient fae can fall for these kids but more so with Ani & Devlin's romance. I didn't get it. I did however like learning more about the Hounds & catching up with old characters. And Irial. *sighs* I may have missed a few absent characters but I'm more than happy that Irial played a more present, if not significant role in this novel.

To wrap everything up spoiler-free, you end up learning alot of secrets about Devlin/Ani/Sorcha/Bananach. I honestly figured out the "big reveal" about Bananach & Sorcha in the previous novel. I'm not gonna toot my own horn & say I'm awesome for figuring it out so soon. Maybe they mentioned it in Fragile Eternity. Hell if I remember. There's also this battle where Bananach shows her butt (yes, I'm being PG for the kiddies). I honestly feel like all of these scattered storylines since Wicked Lovely are finally starting to come together & there will be blood spilled & hell to pay. The big battle is coming & I for one am more than excited to see who survives after the dust settles.

After the crap that was FE, I am elated to know this wasn't a big disappointment as well. It's a been fun, sometimes shocking, sometimes amazing, well-written ride & I for one am going to be sad to see this series end with Darkest Mercy. If baby Jesus is good, MM won't leave us with a heck load of plot holes in that one. ...more

Different but good....

My only caution would be, try not to have any expectations when reading this book. Yes, it's different from others in the series. And it centers around a different character. But take the book for what it is, "Ani's story"... try not to look at it as just another step in "Ash & Keenen's or Seth's" story, and I think readers will really enjoy it.
At last I have to say, I am very impressed by the way the author is weaving her story as well as with the dynamics of Faerie courts ...more

I was so excited when I found this at the library. I enjoyed Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series. I loved the characters - Keenan, Niall, Irial, Seth, Donia and Aislinn. But I have mixed feelings about Radiant Shadows.

Perhaps it's because it took me a long time to get into the story. I had read about 100 pages before I felt some connection to the book. The main characters from the other books are not in this book, or play a really small role, which was disappointing for me. I had a hard time get ...more
