This is my second BDB book, and I have to say they just keep getting better and better. The writing style and world building is excellent, and the characters are as good as you will ever get.
Mary is pretty cool, and Rhage is a sexy Man-beast...The tension and conflicts between them, as well as the tenderness, is very real and very well written. J.R. Ward has an amazing way with developing her characters, after a while you really get to know them. Also what I love is that each member of the BDB ...more

I liked that we got to know more about the different characters in a kinda side plot to the main story.
Rhage and Mary were at times very interesting to read about, but then one of them would do something completely dumb and over the top and I would lose interest or find myself thinking this is completely ridiculous.
One of those times is when Rhage is pissed that Mary won't let him in...yet he himself has n Much better then the first one...but also worse...lol I don't know...I'm still kinda torn.

Oh and don't get me started on him leaving to fuck some faceless woman so he will be able to come back to his true love and then fuck her too (and Mary knows he was just out there fucking some other woman...except she does not know why he had sex with the stranger girl...LMAO so despite not knowing the real reason she excepts his answer that is something in the lines of: he had to use up some of his pent up energy and frustration so that he now can have sex with her...HUH??? And what does she do...she jumps his bones :D :D :D frigging lame!!)
The punishment thing was weird too...WTH? It was not that big of a disaster! And why the hell did Wreath have to tell the damn virgin about it and have her be in on the decision? He is the damn king!! He could have settled that on his own without all that damn whipping.
And ok I know that this is not Wrath's story and that of his female...but helloo the woman was only mentioned like twice...one of the times was completely irrelevant to anything in this book.
That did not sit well with me cos I kinda spent one book getting to know them and now they are barely in the damn series...?
And why the hell did Beth not show her face to Mary at least once (well except for the first time they met when Mary arrived at the house)...Mary is practically afraid, confused and sick...yet the queen does not have a second to spare for her???? :O
Bella and Z...well I actually thought that was interesting...but it annoyed me it had no resolve what so ever...So Z is suffering and pissed off...Bella is scared and alone with a lunatic and the ending is happy ever after with Mary and Rhage...helloooo? It should have been the other way around...first finish the happy story..then get to the bad part and leave us wanting more.

I liked Rhage's dragon though :D so cute!!!

Anyways..I think I'm starting to love to hate this series :D
Will try the third book...and if it pisses me more off I'm dropping this weird ass series. ...more

Another amazing read from Ward. The reason for a 4 * is that I just did not like Mary very much she did not appeal to me as the right type of heroine for Rhage. I just cannot put my finger on it but something was off with her for me in the book. Nonetheless a good read if you are following the series.

Ok, these books are so over the top, but they're fun to read. The names of the brothers and the dialogue between them is ridiculous. That being said, I liked this one so much better than the first. Wrath and Beth just didn't do it for me - I was more interested in Butch and Marissa (and am still waiting for that relationship). But Rhage and Mary were awesome. Loved the angst of these two. ...more

I couldn't put this book down, and now that I've finished it I can't stop thinking about the characters. That's the mark of a good book. This story had the advantage of an open storyline so that, even though we saw very little of the pairing from Dark Lover, there is an ongoing crisis drawing the reader to book 3 in the series. I can't wait to get started on it next. ...more
