I've been waiting for Illium's book since what feels like forever. I also wanted Aodhan's story. So I should've loved this book, right? I really liked it, but I was also a tad disappointed, especially after waiting for so long.

Archangel's Light on Books On Track

Bluebell and Sparkles finally clear the air between them and move their relationship back on track, and then to the next level, reaching their very well deserved happily ever after.

Sweet story despite the darkness that peppered both of their pasts. I am looking forward to seeing more of them together in future books.

P.S.: The romance is between a same sex couple but doesn't stray into uncomfortable territory for readers unused to the MM genre. ...more

The (aside) story told in Archangel's Light was a long time coming for me and many/most Guild Hunter fans. TBH, I was less interested in the "main" story told, although it was well-told, as always. I did, however, love how Nalini wove the backstory of these two littles growing up together, offering support, challenging each other. I also enjoyed seeing other GH characters peppered throughout, even though they were much more peripheral than anything.

More than once Nalini's description of Sharine and the times where she slipped away hit me a bit hard as my mom is living with dementia: ... desperation choked at his throat: the need to have this woman as his mother always, rather than her fractured counterpart. (((Illium))) Sharine has always seemed like such a loving mother and this installment just further warmed my heart. Her love for these two boys, from the beginning, has been never ending.

As heartbreaking as it was to read, it was good to finally know the full story surrounding Aodhan's trauma. The way Raphael and his Seven, as well as the others in his court, worked to find Aodhan and help him heal was moving.

Touch had been used to torture him once. Now, he craved it . . . but only from a scarce few. Illium was at the top of the list.

Aodhan and Illium, Adi and Blue, Sparkle and Bluebell ... Thanks, Nalini! I hope everyone's as happy with the manner in which their relationship was finally addressed as I am. Did I secretly wish we'd get more of them and less of ... everything else? Uh, yeah! But, as some of my SOS friends reminded me as I voiced my hopes for their story, that's not the author's way and not with this series. Still, I got something, which is better than nothing. Hinting that a pair of beloved characters may be into each other, getting readers to ship them, and then writing a lukewarm book featuring the two is cheating. Most of the story centers on nonexistent misunderstandings between the two while we get a few chaste kisses at the end. Not cool!

Thoughts on the Series
A formulaic series with HEAs. It can get violent and dark though, but it can also get repetitive. I'd suggest spacing out the books--and there are a lot of them--for days when you need a ce ...more
