I finished Magic Burns this morning. Yes, I did like the book; I gave it 4 stars. But up until last night, I didn't understand why everyone was raving about this book. Then I got to the good parts.
Magic Burns started off slowly for me. It's been about 2 months since I read Magic Bites, so it took me a while to settle into the book. At times, I felt lost and I needed to reread sections. But as I got used to Ilona Andrew's dark version of Atlanta, a city destroyed by waves of magic, I began to see ...more

I’m becoming a serious fan of this series, and it’s shocking!
I liked this second volume A LOT MORE than the first one (although I gave both of them 4 stars, don’t ask), the story was interesting and Ilona clearly did a thorough research on the Celtic Myths.
When I picked up this book I never expected to see Kate’s maternal side (at least not this soon in the series, because I’m hoping she’ll have a couple of lion cubs later on xD) so it was quite surprising when she became Julie’s kind-of-crazy- ...more

The beginning was a little slow for me to get into but i got into it. I loved this one way better than the first one. I loved Kate and Curran even more in this book. We have just way more interaction with Kate and Curran in MAGIC BURNS and you see Curran more as a love interest for Kate in MAGIC BURNS. I thought that the feeding her soup part was cute and i loved them getting at each other. “You okay in there?” he asked. “You need me to come and hold your hand or something?” I locked the door an

Kate didn't have the best of luck in this book. She got herself in a lot of binds and almost killed on more than one ocassion. Of couse, Curran to the rescue. Which I normally wouldn't have a problem with, except.... Wasn't Kate supposed to be all badass? Please start kicking some ass!
But speaking of Kate and Curran... The scene at the gym? HAWT! That's what I want to walk into. Him taking care of her while she was recovering? Tender! There was definetely some good developments of their ...more

Well hello there, you fantastic urban fantasy book.
In the world of Kate Daniels, magic and tech alternate. The times between magic and tech are getting shorter though - a flare is coming. During a flare, magic rises dramatically and it seems like some evil beasties are using the flare for their own nefarious purposes. Can Kate stop them before it's too late?

It's been a long time since I read Magic Bites. Not sure what took me so long to pick up Magic BurnsMagic Bites. This one is better, it was easier for me to pay attention. Less world-building (which for me can be a bit boring). My only issue- the ending/wrap-up seemed rushed, especially with the outcome of the missing coven and Julie's mother.
