I can't believe I waited as long as I did to read this series. I read the first book, Moon Called, over a year or so ago and just walked away. I liked the book, but I was on this kick of not reading any books in a series back to back for fear of character overdose. I allowed another series to taint my thinking that way, but this year I woke up and realized that some characters are like your friends, they might irk you here and there, but they are stuck to your soul and your friends no matter wha I can't believe I waited as long as I did to read this series. I allowed another series to taint my thinking that way, but this year I woke up and realized that some characters are like your friends, they might irk you here and there, but they are stuck to your soul and your friends no matter what. So I've decided to pick up those series I walked away from after only one or two books and this was one of them. I picked up book #2, Blood Bound, and I didn't stop until I had devoured the series. This series, along with the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, have proven to me once again that characters can be my friends and if I find one that turns on me then I just need to walk away, but not give up on the other characters out there waiting to befriend me.

So on with the review. Mercedes has become by far one of my favorite characters. I like that she can turn coyote, so she is supernatural in a way, but at the same time she isn't stupid, crazy supernatural with all the powers of God and the universe at her beck and call if she could just figure out how to use them. She doesn't blindly run into stupid situations or believe she is a big bad ass and can handle all things evil herself. She knows she has her limitations, she is not immortal nor does she have superhuman healing ability, yet she doesn't shy completely away from protecting her loved ones and herself. Her plans involve a bit more thinking than just charge in and see what is behind door #1. I LOVE her passion and her need for Adam. To witness such a beautifully written relationship develop was awesome. I am still not the biggest fan of Were books because of the dominance stuff, but Patricia Briggs does it in such a way that I can look past it and even understand it, in a small way. I like the wolf and man being separate yet together. I have also come to realize that although sex scenes can be fun, I prefer it toned down to smaller doses in my Urban Fantasy. Paranormal Romance, I get it and even welcome it, but I don't need it every other page in my UF books and I'm grateful to Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews for this.

I loved this series. I can't wait for more. Now I'm on to finish up the Night Huntress series, and yes I know it has a LOT more sex in it, but I am ready for it now after the 2 series I just finished. Just got to learn how to balance the loving. ;)

So read this series, or don't, but it is a good one and you will wonder later, like me, why you didn't finish it sooner. Enjoy! :) ...more

I don't think I liked this book as much as the others, Adam gets in the way a lot. I like that she's married and happy now, but I felt like this whole book was nothing but Adam worrying about Mercy. I enjoyed it though, I'll definately read the next one. I read the first book from her other series and I liked that one a lot too. I hope her two series don't become so similar that they're predictable. I like how Mercedes was a loner and Alpha & Omega were a team. ...more
