Except for the lite peppering of curse words this is really a Middle Grade book--not YA. Just so you know, I am very hard on first reads, They MUST hook me hard in the first 3 chapters or so. I recognize bits and pieces and parts of various other movies, books, or concepts. It was as if the author didn't know what she wanted the reader to take away so everything but the kitchen sink is thrown in as some type of plot point. I've been reading fairy series recently which obviously include this one. This book stood out on its own on some aspects, but as for the big picture its just your basic fiction romance about fairies.

I really enjoyed this book. At the beginning, I wasn't sure if I would like it because it is so similar to other stories. However, as I read on I just got sucked into the story more and more. I liked how the characters reflected some other people in different stories like Robin Goodfellow. There was always some kind of drama/action going on, so I definitely never was bored. I will for sure read on to the other books in the series. I'm looking forward to what happens to the characters / kingdoms. ...more
