"Are you okay, Mercy?"

The answer to that question would be a solid no. Mercy is dealing with issues in her marriage, a doorway to Underhill in her backyard, rogue werewolves, a stalker, and a killer bunny.

Elizaveta's death curse to Adam from Storm Cursed leaves him reeling and shutting down his mate bond with Mercy. It takes her a bit to chip away at the reason behind Adam's distancing himself from her. In true Mercy fashion, she attacks the problem head on.

One of my favorite long-running series -- so fun when another installment comes out! Smoke Bitten was a fun read. My super vague and spoiler-free thoughts: We meet a mysterious creature wreaking havoc on the pack and on Mercy in particular. The resolution of that storyline was quite satisfying. There are some interesting threads being woven into the story that hint at some larger plot lines that I am really curious about. This series is amazing. This time round, Mercy and Adam are having issues and the new threat is more mysterious than ever.

What I enjoyed:
* Love Mercy, Adam and the pack. Was unexpected to see marriage issues.
* Two distinct threats
* The fae are so inscrutable as they have plots within plots within plots (view spoiler)
* Something is going to have to be done about Wulfe at some point ...more

Mercy and Adam

A few non-pack wolves are plotting to take over Adam’s pack and a non-fey something is after Mercy. And Adam is being distant and irritable.

Lots going on here all centered in Mercy. Some parts of the story, even for make-believe, were too far out there this time.

I kind of wish the walking stick would stay broken. It feels a bit like a cheat at this point!

I noticed that Brancy(Bran x Mercy) had a small moment in this book! 😂

“I’m jealous and spiteful,” he said. “I don’t like it when men call you. When Bran calls you—or Beauclaire”

This acknowledges that Adam does see Bran as competition! 🤣
