I have a friend and she wanted me to let her know if this was as "weird" as the last Sookie installment. Number 10 was weird and now I know why. I think that Charlaine Harris has had a hard time finding Sookie's voice. It was almost totally lost in last book. Dead Reckoning starts out in this voiceless way but then somehow Harris finds Sookie again and as the action heats up the story and our narrator feels more like earlier novels. I waited for the book since last year (when the last book was released), and somehow I forgot I was waiting for it =__=; weird cuz last year I was in a sort of obsession on finding it on the release day... I blame the big number of exams that I need to remember ever week! (like three or four a week, and I was able to somehow miss one!!)
back to the book...

So in this book there is someone who does terrorist attack on Sam's bar, and it turns out, later when some more people try to kidnap or kill So I waited for the book since last year (when the last book was released), and somehow I forgot I was waiting for it =__=; weird cuz last year I was in a sort of obsession on finding it on the release day... So in this book there is someone who does terrorist attack on Sam's bar, and it turns out, later when some more people try to kidnap or kill Sookie, that it was actually to kill her. Sam's bar isn't doing well, and Sookie and Eric's relationship doesn't look good and she knows that there's something she should know about but he doesn't tell her, and what's more he forbits Pam from telling her.
Through the book in little pieces here and there, we in the end find out that Eric has like an arranged marriage with one of the queens that his maker made, and he supposely tries to get out of it. But still, the point is that he didn't tell Sookie about it, and it seems that he doesn't tell her much about anything that may be important and be related to her.
Actually, a long time ago I think I read in some comments about the future book (like how many more books there are going to be in the series) that Sookie isn't going to end up with Eric in the end.. I was kind of wishing that wasn't true, and I was sure I'd hate that way that'll come to be, but now it seems that it a likely scenario and now that seeing that he is a jerk in some things, I'm not sure I feel that bad about it...
I hope that the guy she'll end up with in the end end end of everything would be a new character, cuz really every one turned out to be SOBs like Bill (sure he may love her but that doesn't change who he is), Queen and Alcid. Maybe a fairy?
Back to the story again.
Even though she find that out about Eric she still helps kill Vik (the bad vamp in this book), and we also find out more about Pam because she had a girl she loved and wanted to turn her because she's sick, but that didn't work out and she died. <-- nice addition to the character.

I read this book in no time. It left me wanting more. I did feel as if nothing happened. I kept waiting for action and felt like I didn't get it. I dunno. Maybe it's been too long since I read a Sookie book. I still liked it though. ...more

I enjoyed this book a lot better than the last one, even though it ended with Sookie feeling sorry for herself again. I wonder if this was the point where the author decided she was going to end the series so she's been wrapping up loose ends. It feels like she's getting the series back on track with this one. ...more

As many others have previuosly mentioned, this is one big FAIL for the series. I also agree with many that the show has ruined what will be the final books of the series.
