This book is so much better than Dead in the Family. As others have said, it did tend to meander, but it did so in a classic Sookie novel sort of way. All the meandering twisted around to solve the main problem of the book and create a few more to solve in future installments.
There were two things that made this novel, for me, superior to the last Sookie book. The first was the return of Harris' sense of humor, which seemed to have gone missing in the last installment. There was banter, crazy S ...more

Finally finished reading this book. Oh man, it was so boring and it took me forever to force myself to get through it. I love the sookie stackhouse series and usually devour the new books in 1 reading but this was..just.. so blah and annoying. Slow book, repetitive scenes and monologues. A lot of it was just meandering nonsense. Sookie's character has become so whiny, judgmental and hypocritical. No chemistry left between the her and Eric -my favourite in the book. I had mixed feelings about this one, I found it better than the last one but Charlaine has confused me in her actions concerning Sookie & Eric's relationship. The eleventh installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series was a big improvement after the 10th. A lot of strands of story lines were resolved and others brought up. All in all, it wasn't my favorite of the series, but it was good. And I've finally regained some appreciation for Bill. He was great in this one, and I found myself missing him and Sookie (which is odd because I never liked them together in the first place). It left me wanting more! It's gonna be a long year!

I don't know why I put off reading this series. It doesn't help when I don't have access to the books. I do enjoy this series. Dead Reckoning continues where the previous book left. Sookie is married to Eric the vampire.
So does Sookie find trouble or does trouble find Sookie? Merlotte's is firebombed and Eric and Pam are plotting to kill Victor the new Regent of the area. Sookie gets caught up in the planning because Victor can make trouble for her too.
