I want to give it a 4 because I like the Edge realm and I do think the story was interesting and well told, but I'm not in love with the characters like I was in the first book.
The biggest problem I had with Bayou Moon (and was a little disappointed by) was the story seemed like it was just following the formula of the first one. Cerise was like a copy of Rose to me, but not quite as loveable, IMO. I like her fine, and I actually do like William a lot, but their sto ...more

Holds up well on the re-read. I liked Rose's family a little bit better than Cerise's. Maybe because it was smaller and more time spent on them individually. Still a great read. The Mar clan was very interesting and I'd never want to start a feud with them. The Mire, sucks. I thought the Edge was a horrible place to live, but the Mire is way worse.
What I enjoyed:
* William's POV. Poor guy had a horrible life and was sure he would never get a happy ending.

Ah, William. *sigh* This troubled werewolf (sorry, changeling) is just what the world needs. He keeps such a tight leash on himself, afraid to give in to his nature/desires because he fears mis-interpreting human reactions. But when he falls in love, he falls hard. And the romantic sighs can be heard for miles around.

It's been awhile since I read 'On the Edge (The Edge #1)' so I looked back and saw that I gave it 4 stars, but what I remember most about that book was that I thought it was a little too fairytale-ish with perfect prince Declan saving poor, doing the best she can with what she's got, Rose. It filled my Illona Andrews fix at the time but it was missing the Kate/Curran action packed, love-hate relationship, super kickass female protagonist element.

This series is so hard to classify. Kind of rural urban fantasy (if there is such a thing), kind of straight up fantasy, and kind of paranormal romance. Whatever it is, I do like it. Ilona Andrews writes some great heroines and I loved Cerise. She does have a lot in common with Rose from the first book so I do hope that changes up a little in the next but I liked them both so it was OK for me. William is also a wonderful hero. I like it when authors give shifters a different thought process than

What a fantastic book!! I love this series!!!Great job!I loved William from the last book.Cerise was the perfect girl for him. Then we were introduced to a whole new cast of characters to fall in love with as well as villains to Hate! The final great touch was when Declan, Rose and the boys made an appearance. I cant recommend this book highly enough. Awesome!!

Once I picked up this book I didn't want to put it down until I finished and, except for work, I didn't. It had been a while since I read the first book, but it didn't matter. Andrews' vivid descriptions and wonderfully unique characters drew me right back into the world of the Edge. Cerise is perfect for William, a strong character with a wild side. I'm hoping her entire family will appear in future books.
