This was very different from the Kate Daniels series. Different in a good way. I love Ilona Andrews’ imaginative world building. The Edge is a world sandwiched between our world known as The Broken because no magic works and The Weird a place where the blueblood magical aristocrats live. The Weird is like a parallel universe to our world.

The people that inhabit The Edge are an eccentric collection of characters with some magical powers. The Edge is not the safest place to live and in this story

I enjoyed this book. It was a different world, very well written, a bit slow paced, but a good story, complex, with real and likeable characters.

This took a little bit of time to get into, but once I did, it was hard to put down. In this world, you have the "Broken:" non-magical, "real" world, the "Weird:" magic exists, and the "Edge:" the place between. Most in the Weird are unable to cross into the Broken. An entertaining start to this series. Since I'm apparently the only person who isn't a fan of the Kate Daniels series by this author I was slightly cautious approaching this series. The caution wasn't needed, though, as I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Looking forward to reading the next books in the series - looks like it's a series of possibly standalone novels set in the "Edge" world. ...more

LOVED this book. It is a great action packed, fun sexy romance, and a HEA all rolled into one. I couldn't put it down. The hero, Declan, is smoldering hot and the heroine, Rose, can kick some butt. I loved the premise for the book. You have our world (the Broken) the magical world (The Weird) and where the two meet you have The Edge (a little of both worlds). Kind of like a border town. Did I mention Delcan? Okay. I look forward to the next installment Bayou Moon with Willian who we meet in The ...more

Main Street meets Camelot with Appalachia in the middle all iced with magic and mayhem. Terrific world building, engaging characters. Sadly, one of those books that ended too soon. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
