4 stars for A Questionable Client by Ilona Andrews.
As a prequel story, it works well. It details Kate's first encounter with Saiman, showcases her wit and fighting ability, and offers a brief introduction to magic-devastated Atlanta. It also incorporates Russian folklore and the events here seem to have some bearing on the plot of book five, Magic Slays. Well-worth reading.

Liked all of these, my favourite was "Even a rabbit will bite" - Rachel Caine, but also liked all the little background stories in series I follow, especially Andrews and Vaughan. Never heard of Deirdre Knight or Shannon K Butcher before, while I probably wont go out of my way to read more of their work, these stories were okay - and no anthology is perfect, right? All-in-all a pretty good mix of stories.

Even Hand- Jim Butcher (Dresden Files)
This story follows Gentleman John Marcone. I wasn't very gung-hoe on this story like I usually am with Butcher's work. It seemed very unlike his usual style. I'm ...more

Overall, a fairly even collection of stories. Nothing stuck out as being really bad and I really enjoyed some. My favorites were (in order) "A Questionable Client," "Even a Rabbit Will Bite," "Even Hand," and "God's Creatures" (Cormac = yum).
