Not a bad series start! This is a very western-America-centric book, starring a Navajo stormwalker (you guessed it; she can control storms) named Janet Begay. Janet's proud of her Dine heritage and as such the book is flavored with Native American....uh...flavor. ^_^ Her big challenge in life is dealing with her evil-goddess mother's unwanted attentions; apparently, Janet's inherited some of her mother's considerable powers, and mommy dearest wants to use her to open up a sealed porta

I really liked this book, really liked it. I'm not even 100% sure why. I started reading it and I did not want to put it down.

The story is fast-paced and I love all the characters (well, almost all; I'm still not sold on Nash). Janet is super awesome, aside from her unfortunate last name of Begay (yes, seriously). Mick is so so hot. I normally skim sex scenes in books so that I can get back to the plot faster, but I read the ones in this book. Yes, they were steamy, but I really felt like the t

I really enjoyed Stormwalker, a fresh blend of characters and creatures that is interesting. Janet is likeable in that tough yet vulnerable way with an interesting power. Mick is something a little different and very appealing. The supporting characters have a lot of potential and add a lot to the story.
I enjoyed James's sense of humor running throughout and also felt the action scenes were well handled.
There is not a lot I don't like about Stormwalker and i am looking forward to the next instal

There were parts of this story that I loved, and parts that I thought were a bit cheesy. Some of the dialog felt awkward to me, not natural. And I am a sucker for the initial attraction and building of a relationship, that's why I love UF. But in this book, so much of that had already happened "off-screen", so it was hard for me to be gung ho about the romance.

But the series has potential, and I will read the next book. But I'm not chomping at the bit to do it. :)

Really great world building, powerful heroine who isn't nasty and rude, but once again, a horrible, violent beyond powerful scary love interest. He hits her the first time they meet because she won't hit him! She thinks he's going to rape her at first. It's so disgusting. At least she leaves him when he had all the power in the relationship and treats her like a child. Although I don't get why him doing something wonderful for her birthday was a catalyst for it. ...more

Liked the Native American imagery, found the location (desert) quite interesting, liked the characters. Pretty good read.
