This was a pretty short read, so I will just do a quick review. If you have read all of Katie Macalister’s dragon books up until now, you will love this addition. We finally get to see what big bad Baltic is all about. If you haven’t, you will be pretty lost. I even had to go back to the previous books to make sure I had the plot correct. Wonderful book. MacAlister managed to take a lot of "facts" and information we learned in the other two dragon series and turn it upside down. All entirely plausible and all with her trademark humor; at one point I was laughing so hard, I went into a coughing fit. After Me and My Shadow, I was a little down on Jim. After feeling only so-so about the last Silver Dragon book I was happy that this book flowed well and had a good sense of humor. Ysolde doesn't remember her previous life, but has flashbacks showing it to her. She is a fun character to follow. She is much smarter than Aisling but does have a temper. As I was nearing the ending I was surprised this was going to be a series because it seemed like everything was going to be worked out. Silly me, underestimating the ego of wyverns.

I was happy to see that I didn't need to have read all the prior Katie MacAlister books to enjoy this one. There are characters from other books in here but it is not essential to know them for the story plot. I am looking forward to the next one in this series.
