I heard that this book was getting not the most shining of reviews, but I absolutely loved it. Wonder if it's because I don't watch True Blood? The only thing I might have changed was to have more time to get to see Alexei's and Ocella's interaction with Eric. Seemed like a lot happened that we didn't see. On one hand, I'm glad because it sounded like Harris left out a lot of violence. On the other, it would have been nice to see how the hierarchy worked and to see a little of the ***Spoilers****

I just have a feeling there is more to it then we know at present. I thank Harris for not leaving us with a giant cliffhanger and was relieved Sookie was able to handle her own more so in this book. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a stronger Sookie. Also, wondering if Ocella and Alexei were the ones who Dermot referred to when he said Sookie attracted dead things. Have to go back and see if he said they weren't all vamps. Also, wonder if Eric's new freedom will cause him to become more powerful? Did anyone else wonder what was going on with Sookie when she got upset when Eric wanted to brush her hair? I'm starting to wonder about that blood bond with Eric. Also, wondering about Bill's "sister". Somehow I doubt he feels the same about her as she apparently does about him. I can't see him with anyone but Sookie. Did you notice How Harris seems to be doing an awful lot of matchmaking lately. I hope this doesn't signify the end of the series.

What did you think of Alcide's comment about wishing he and Sookie could have had a relationship? Also, using her as a shaman? I get the feeling that Sookie is going to be converted into something either a Were, Vamp, or a full blown Fey. Okay that darn song is playing in my head again---Everybody wants her(not the exact lyrics, but you get my drift). Oh, and why is Eric more powerful with Sookie? Why does his being with her create a threat? Also, what was the effect Fairy blood have on Vamps? I know it's addictive, but does it give them more power too? I can't remember. Gah! Darn my poor memory.

Was glad to see a little more of Hunter in this one. Can't wait to see what will happen with his character.Could Harris be setting him up to be in another series?

After this book I don't want Harris to put an end to this series any time soon. Don't do it Ms. Harris. Please. :) ...more

Most of this book I had the feeling of being ripped off!

I did somewhat like this plot and the possibility it could have brought to the series. One thing that I don't think helped Harris in particular, and probably even threw her off is that True Blood took a life of it's own. Disappointing. The themes running through this book match the title completely, everyone had a story related to these themes - it was almost as if this book was a collection of short stories put together and delivered as a novel. The action was lacking, the fear coming from Eric led me to believe his master was the one to be afraid of - a complete misdirection which was unsatisfying.

The high points for me were Sookie's time with Hunter and the little time she spent with Eric. It was good to see ...more

There are a lot going on this book that are open to limitless possibilities for plots on the next book. It wasn't as engaging as before. It feels like the author has started up again so she could have even more books in this series.

I still like it. But I'm a romantic and there isn't much romance in this one. Three stars because I still get to finish it and Eric is still here. He's just not as devious as he used to be. ...more

I loved this book. I just finished Rachel Vincent's Shift which I also loved. But Charlaine Harris' book is such a feel good book. It ends on a positive note. While Rachel Vincent is adventure and never a dull moment in that book, Charlaine Harris is light and romantic with a touch of adventure and drama to keep it interesting. I'm thinking like the Jan Karon of the vampire world. She might be my favorite. ...more
