This book calls up echoes of Stranger Things quite clearly, with the Dungeons and Dragons angle, and the quest that Nick embarks upon. Lawrence’s writing is solid, with a few sentences that really struck me to the quick. Nick’s illness is brutal and undeniable, but Lawrence handles it gracefully.
