What Members Thought

3.5 stars. Catalina's 'voice' is the same as Nevada's. Her youth meant that I didn't buy her as a powerful head of house taking on all comers. That blink and you'll miss it explanation about why Nevada was no longer head of Baylor Investigations was lame. No real explanation as to why Alessandro was in love with her. Otherwise entertaining but once I got over the excitement of a new IA release, the flaws in the story became more apparent.

It is 3 years later and Catalina in now head of House Baylor, they are about to lose the protection given to newly formed houses and she has to decide whether or not to help Runa.
What I enjoyed:
* I love the Baylors, so I'm always happy to read more. I actually wish the rest of the family had been a bit more involved in this story.
* Catalina is learning to ropes and keeping to their rules when she agrees to help Runa find out who killed her mother and sister. Which of course unravels into a much ...more

The New House Baylor
I can always count on the Andrews for an imaginary and exciting tale. Over the years this family has suffered much and stayed true to their mission. This book is more of the same. Catalina is now head of the very new and young House Baylor. They are about three years in, and things are going to start heating up.

I was swimming through the warm water of the Gulf when someone knocked on the sky.
Catalina Baylor is awakened in the middle of the night to rescue a suicidal prime. Being the head of the Baylor House is a tremendous task for a 21 year old. She discovers that another house has been attacked, leaving two burned bodies. The surviving children become clients of Baylor investigations.

Don't get me wrong, I love Nevada but one of my frequent complaints throughout the first three books was that she didn't trust/use her family's strengths to the best of their abilities. I'm so glad that the Andrews' finally picked up on this because Catalina is just what House Baylor needs. I am really looking forward to seeing how she evolves under the pressure/tutelage of the two major deals she made during this book.
