Demon's Mercy is the second book in what I think of as Dark Protectors Part Two. Since I first learned of Logan I've wanted to know more and that feeling grew following the events of Vampire's Faith. Logan is the middle Zyllwood brother - Zane the older and Sam the younger. Zanetti didn't disappoint.

I have been a fan of the Dark Protectors from the first book. This novel introduces us to another supernatural species, the Fae.
Logan Kyllwood is part of a ruling family of vampire/demon hybrids, a soldier from a very young age, and a protector of all who matter to him. Imagine his surprise when he is assigned to follow a woman, "key" to the survival of the Realm and finds himself kidnapped.

Logan and Mercy are attracted to each other at once, but are supposed to be on opposite sides. I loved Logan's perseverance, loyalty and ultimate alpha maleness. Mercy is small, feisty, intelligent, deceitful, Fae, and a total match for Logan. She is not a push-over and surprises Logan at every turn. At risk for her is the survival of her species, for him is the survival of the Seven and subsequently the survival of the women of the Realm.
I feel that in this book there are a lot of other story lines and not a lot of Logan and Mercy's relationship. There is the mating mark, so they know that they are mates, but their ability to actually stay in one place and develop their friendship to love was a little light in the telling.
I did enjoy seeing so many folks from the previous Dark Protectors novels. I think that clash of the Kurjans and Cysts against the Realm/Seven is building with each mating of the Seven members.

This installment is full of information that should build up the next part of the Dark Protectors story, but that information doesn’t detract from the main story or couple. Mercy is not my favorite heroine. While I understand her reasons, I feel she’s too wishy washy at times and it almost cost her and Logan their lives. Logan is Logan...but I enjoyed getting to know him better as an individual. I do love the Kyllwood brothers, but it’s always nice getting to know them as their own person. This ...more

3.5 stars. I liked learning about fairies or fae, as Mercy would correct me, but Logan spent a lot of time chasing Mercy and looking hot. I'm not certain if the Seven or the fae was correct about the inter-dimensional prison, but of course the Kurjan and Cysts were in it for themselves. ...more
