Thank goodness I waited to read this one until the next one was out, as the cliffhanger would've driven me insane.

Elena starts hearing a voice in her head speaking a prophecy and they work out it is Cassandra, an Ancient sleeping Archangel. The beginning of the prophecy predicts Elena's ascension to Angelness but the ending isn't good.

One of her mortal family is attacked and that provides a welcome distraction for Elena. The case becomes more involved as the suspects have died and she discovers ...more

WOW…this was a roller coaster ride that got more and more intense as the story went on. Early in the story I was a bit lost as the pieces didn’t seem to make any sense and it seemed there were two separate stories going on. That didn’t last too long though. Once momentum built, it built fast. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how everything came together…then it ended…on a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers (in my opinion)!
