3.5 Stars - An interesting premise, and expansive universe with a very different take on magic and making Angels, Vampires and Witches into more states of being rather than separate species.
The first four books were all very exposition heavy, I read them as a bundle. Once you got to grips with the reality in one book it shifted in the next and there was even more information and world building to absorb as the protagonist Leda worked her way through the magic and power of the next level.

For the most part, I enjoyed Vampire's Kiss. It was a quick read with good pacing, lots of action and forward momentum. The characters were interesting and the world was intriguing. World building was done well and without an info dump. So, why the 1 star deduction you ask? There are a few things that I detest in a story and this one had them all.
