5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 – A triumphant first foray into a post-apocalyptic world from a bestselling author for whom no genre seems to difficult to try
Everything you expect from Nora Robert's writing style is here, fabulous characters you can't help but fall in love with and hope for the best, great exposition and world building, a wonderful plot and varied subplots, scenes that make you laugh, others that give you hope and warmth and those that make you cry and a sincere wish that the book end and yet never end ...more

On the one hand Nora Roberts writes very well, the book really flows, on the other, I have little idea of where it's flowing to. It's a very long book to basically get nowhere.
And yes, it's called Year One, so obviously it's the beginning of whatever NR is planning on telling, but I found it a mix of Cell from Stephen King and a fairy tale and bizarre all along.

This was an “abridged audio presentation” and I could sure tell. Between the subpar character development and the choppy flow of the plot this was a real snooze. I thought it showed some great potential - especially in the beginning when the description of the infection spread was detailed. Sadly, it went off the rails from there. The question I’m left to wonder about is whether or not the full book filled in the character and plot potholes present in this abridged version?
