It's hard to do backstories without bogging down the story. Somehow Ann Aguirre aces this. The depth of the character development and their progressive arcs as a result make THE LEOPARD KING engrossing.

Pru and Dom
She is sent to bring Dom home. He has isolated himself for three years while he morns the murder of his wife. These two to both of their surprise bond. Neither is happy about it but know it is for the good of the pack.
Dom is the head of the Cats and he is needed back to help negotiate the new peace treaty. Nothing goes as planned.
Misunderstanding should be the name of this book as there are misunderstandings on all sides throughout.

I’ve been on my quest to find new books, authors and series to get me excited again and I thought THE LEOPARD KING had the markings of everything I was looking for from the moment I saw the cover and then read the blurb. I love shifter stories and I don’t think there are as many as I would like out there. This one started a little rough for me but I ended up really enjoying it. I liked Dom & Pru and appreciated that they talked through their issues like adults. I thought their relationship in the beginning moved a little too quick but once they got back home and had to work through some stuff it worked better for me.
