I love me some Susan Elizabeth Phillips and this book is just great.
What happens here, that always happens in a Phillips' boo, is the hero and heroine come to deeply respect and value each other. They like and admire each other. They are also really hot for one another but that seems to follow this deep connection the Phillips does like nobody else. Sigh.

The story of Piper Dove, a PI determined to do well in her current big assignment, that has her following former star quarterback Cooper Graham.
To her dismay, Cooper spots her and confronts her about her following him, but thinking on her feet, she comes up with a hilarious excuse that he doesn't exactly buy - she pretends she's his stalker, but a harmless one, that will probably leave him be once her new meds kick in.
