Any psychiatrist who doesn't think it's possible to repress memories is an idiot. We have all kinds of evidence of that kind of thing. Memory is incredible inaccurate and impressionable. It's the recalling of repressed memories that is controversial.

I'm the fence about it, but whether it's possible or not, it's been used by quacks to really hurt people. I have a friend who became convinced she was repeatedly molested by a group of satanists that her parents were part of as part of rituals. When ...more
