Review: Steelheart Steelheart puts a different spin on the superhero story. In this dystopian world the appearance of a new star called Calamity started the rise of Epics from the human population. But the Epics are not the good guys. As a child David sees his father injure Steelheart, the most powerful of the Epics. The story is from his perspective as an 18 year old, bent on revenge and hoping to hook up with the Reckoners, a band of humans who fight back.

That was one of the more interesting premises I've read. Ordinary people get extraordinary powers but all become evil.
What I enjoyed:
* The camaraderie of the group of Reckoners. They are from all walks of life, but the common purpose of destroying Epics brings them together.
* David is an interesting protagonist. He watched Steelheart get hurt and then kill his father while a little boy and has lived for revenge since.
* Some secrets were very well kept (view spoiler) ...more

Honestly, I can't think of anything by Brandon Sanderson that I haven't loved. I've got nothing to say that isn't basically just sqeeing. Loved the ideas, loved that the dystopia wasn't so bleakly overwhelming (although definitely there) and, as usual with Sanderson, I loved the way the magic/science/powers worked. I can't wait for the next book in this world. Even the title made me happy.
