Could it be? A book... in which angels are actually jerks? Be still, my beating heart.
It started off pretty roughly. Quite a lot of info-dumps, and the "mage-heat" thing reeeeeally wasn't necessary (though I liked that it was under control and not an Anita Blake kind of thing). There was also some awkwardness with the random third-person POVs at the end of some chapters, which I thought was sloppy and not integrated very well.
