I was not particularly fond of the drawing style of the volume (apart from the cover), but I enjoyed finding out how Mercy came to call the Tri-Cities home. It was fun seeing how she first met Stefan and Adam among other recurring characters and her impressions and frame of mind at the time.
I might check the rest of the graphic novels in the series sometime, if only for the extra tidbits they give us, or to make the wait for the next book in the series less frustrating.

Mercy’s arrival in the Tri-Cities is just as eventful as you’d hope.
**3.5**
This GN covers Mercy’s initial meetings with Adam and Stefan, as well as how she came to work for Zee. It’s fun to see the set-up for these relationships. However, I wasn’t a major fan of the artwork.
Zee is spot-on, as is Darryl. Stefan looks a mite more frightening than I’ve ever pictured him, with his hollow cheeks and zombie-ish pallor--looking as he does, no one could ever mistake him for a member of the living. Mer ...more

This was okay. I'm not a very visual person so I didn't expect to love this, and I didnt. The story was a bit thin, I'm not sure how "necessary" this story was... I didnt find much of interest here. I'm new to graphic novels and found the flow hard to follow at times, and found the pictures distracting, Mercy keeps changing and everybody looks weird. I dont wanna judge but surely Stefan doesnt look that terrible? And isnt Adam supposed to be hot? I'll probably try another graphic novel in the fu

The Mercy Thompson novels are some of my favorites and I really enjoy the graphic novel format, so I was really excited to see this Dabel Brothers collaboration. I put off buying it because I couldn't justify the price for the length, but I ended up checking it out of my library. I'm really glad I did because it was not up to the quality I was expecting.

I managed to snag a copy of this to review- yay! Can't wait to see how Mercy translates to a graphic novel.
Upon reverently cracking open the new hard-cover graphic novel that offers the story of Mercy Thompson’s beginnings in the Tri-Cities, the initial reaction was one of gleeful awe. Written as collaboration between Mercy’s creator, Patricia Briggs, and David Lawrence, it turned out to be a great offering for fans.

I loved the story, but didn't care for the illustration used for the story itself (the cover art is good, but not a fair representation of the internal art) - Mercy looked frightening with freakish man thighs and ridiculous breasts. As a result, I can only give this three stars...
