Kate returns to find herself acting as "mom" to a young girl in some serious trouble. The sexual angst in this book was even worse than the first one, as she is repeatedly reminded that she hasn't gotten any in a while even though she seems to be continuously asked by the new character, Bran. She finds herself not only trying to take care of and protect the young girl (Julie), but she is also facing a mystery of sorts - either she figures out what is happening and why, or the world as she knows

OMG! I never thought I'd said that again over another UF after reading KMMs's dream series, Briggs' Thompson series and the like. But the ending! OMG, THE ending was Peeeerfect! Dialogues between Curran and Kate are hilarious, scenes are played out like a movie, it was sexy-hot with only a small hint of soon-to-be smoldering sex. Everything was surprisingly smoooooth, and a promise of a big reveal to come. :)

Loving the tension between Kate and Curran primarily because it is not taking over the whole story, but a nice cherry on top!

I really enjoyed this 2nd in the "Kate Daniels" series. It was a quick-read and full of action and new interesting characters as well as some of the old. Kate and Curran kick it up a notch. Can't wait to read the next one!
