Hallelujah! I've found a great stand-alone! I liked the characters, events and most of all the ending.
I highly recommend it for everyone who likes to read about fantasy kingdoms, magic, strong leaders and human emotions.
The book describes the events mostly from the male point of view. But don't be put out by it; the stile will suit for reading by both sexes. The plot was reach and the events well paced. The feelings and emotional experience of characters equals those of the Harry Potter series. ...more

Finnikin is not my favorite of Marchetta's or in the series, but the second and third in this series are absolutely amazing. So it is worth it to read the first. And some do love it. Whatever you do, do not listen to the audio as it seriously sucks. ...more
