This was a pleasant surprise. So, the Ferrys (last name), ferry the recently deceased to either heaven or hell. Set in Boston, in the near future, the current world is unrecognizable due to catastrophic global warning and the subsequent unrest and disease that broke out. Think of the "lawless west" including Pittsburgh.
Nice twist with betrayal (one of which is guessable, the other more of a surprise). Mythology with with twist. Cacia and Eli are a good fit.

I admit I was pleasantly surprised. I knew it was supposed to be a romance (and some of the prose was a little cliched, "...so deeply in love she knew she'd never resurface. She'd fallen asleep in Eli's arms, thinking that was the only way she wanted to slumber from now on."). So what really made this story for me was the world building. The author did a pretty solid job with the plot and keeping me interested in the various politics involved, so it deserved to be rounded-up a star. I will defin ...more

Cacy and Eli

This was an interesting story; part romance, part end-of-the-world UF, part mystery and part Greek Tragedy. This had all the good from each of the parts.
