What a fun series starter this was. I've had Lisa Shearin on my radar for both this series and her earlier one for a while. I'm so glad that BSB gave me a push to finally read her. Mac is a newbie, a seer for the SPI so she gives the reader an in to this paranormal world without the dreaded infodump. While I saw some Stephanie Plum comparisions, I'm not sure I'd make them. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. (I'd attempted to read Shearin's Raine Benares series and couldn't make it through more than the first book.) This heroine's humor tickled me and I love that she is a Southern Girl! Though there wasn't a lot if time for character development for the supporting characters, I did find them relatable and engaging. All-in-all, I enjoyed this book, and will be reading the next.
