This had the problem many 1st in series books had, too much craziness to start with.

I came close to giving up reading this but I had it in too many challenges, so perservered (sp).

The second half picked up and the characters solidified.

What I particularly disliked in the 1st half was that nobody was talking to Lizzie and telling her anything except that she was the demon slayer. And she went along with it even though she was not getting any information and could feel that things weren't right.
