2015 Review:
Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series has some of the most impressive character development I've read in a UF series. Jane's growth throughout this series is so well done I've never felt as if anything happened too quickly. Each book features an event that sets about change in Jane's life.

2015 Review:
Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series has some of the most impressive character development I've read in a UF series. Jane's growth throughout this series is so well done I've never felt as if anything happened too quickly. Each book features an event that sets about change in Jane's life.

In Dark Heir, Jane is still testing her boundaries and new abilities. (view spoiler) Additionally, her relationship with the Youngers, Alex and Eli, continues to grow. They are a vital part of her life now and she wants to make sure they know how important they are to her.

One of Clan Pellissier's biggest secrets has just gotten out. Down in the bowels of vamp HQ, one of the Sons of Darkness (oldest vampires on Earth/maker of vampires) has been held captive. He's now free and roaming the city. As you'd expect, chaos follows and so does Jane. She and her boys must find a way to stop this nearly immortal vampire. She's been asked to try to capture him, but with so many dead in his wake, that might be easier said than done.

Some fans of the series may find Jane's guilt a negative. I don't particularly like it when it becomes a bit repetitive throughout the story. But, I remind myself that, from the start, Jane has been struggling with her actions and the actions of others while working as a hunter/Enforcer. She doesn't go around indiscriminately killing. In Dark Heir , Jane does put a lot of the blame on herself, feeling as if everyone's death is because of her, because she's not enough. We know that's not the case, but it continues to be her internal struggle.

What I once looked at as a potentially interesting read about another vampire hunter is so much more. The fight scenes are, at times, epic. There's always a new evil to be fought. You'll find some humor mixed in throughout to break up the tension. The relationships are touching and realistic. And, the character growth, as I mentioned, is top notch. Even the side characters are interesting and well written. I highly recommend this series to UF fans. You will not be disappointed! ...more

This picked up towards the end but I got tired of hearing Jane's guilt over things that really weren't her fault. Especially when she had already worked past this and wasn't blaming herself anymore. ...more
