I have to confess that I am fine with H. G. Wells in Preachy-mode (well, most of the time).
Recently picked out The Time Machine from my bookshelf as a good candidate to read on a plane ride.
Forgot how short it really was.
Anyway, if later-day Preachy H.G. is more than palatable, it's still Wells on an off-day in comparison to his early writings such as this one. There are no superfluous passages and everything flows with an economy of words that weaves social commentary, action, suspense, scienti ...more
