Faythe is an incredibly human character despite the fact she is a werecat. I laughed out loud on several occasions. Faythe is struggling desperately for independence. She however understands the people who will be in jeopardy if she runs. She makes plenty of mistakes, and has her share of flaws you except her anyway. This book spends a lot of time introducing you the residents of the Lazy S Ranch. The character development is spaced out nicely, and you in my opinion can see the ranch when you cl

This is the first book in Rachel's werecat series, and a bookseller recommended that I read them in order when I was picking up Prey. I can understand her reasoning, as this book introduces Faythe's history and the main players, while still standing alone as a good story.
Faythe is the only girl in her family, which is normal for werecats, but it puts a lot of pressure on her to conform to the expected role of tabbies. She is expected to get married to the future Alpha and start having babies, en ...more

A great start to a series. Its cool to read about shifters that are cats instead of wolves for a chance. And how they function in a pride over a pack. I really fell in love with the characters - Faythe, Marc, Jace and all the others. Cant wait to see how the whole story plays out. A well developed world with well developed characters. Hard to put down.

This is the start of what looks to be a series about a female werecat named Faythe. A college student trying to assert her independence from an overprotective Alpha father, Faythe is called home when female werecats (rare in that only 8 unmarried werecat women exist in the U.S) start to go missing. At 600 pages, it can feel like the book is a little too long, but I still enjoyed it. One major gripe with the main character can be that she is sometimes Too STUBBORN To Live, something I was worried

Stray by Rachel Vincent is a novel about werecats. At first, the book starts out a bit slow. I wasn't too happy at first at Faythe', the main character, story. She came across as very whiny. As the story progressed, I did realize that this was actually perfect characterization. She was so obsessed with not being heard, not taken seriously, she didn't do the same to those around her. That is perfect. How many people, including ourselves, do exactly that? How many of us become so blinded by our ow

Yes! I have finally done it. Actually, I have finally done two things! One, I have finally read a Rachel Vincent book. And two, I have finally read the first book in her ‘crazy popular among my friends’ Shifters series. At last I have met Faythe and company and I must say I really enjoyed them.
Faythe is currently attending school and to her, that is the most important thing in the world. She is a feline shifter and one of the last remaining females. If th ...more

Okay, I must have been PMSing the first time I tried this book, because I stopped on page 54 and then gave it one star. I don't know what I was thinking since I liked it so much this time :o I'm kind of an idiot every once-in-a-while.
