You ever find yourself in a book and the characters feel flat and as contrived as the dystopian future that they live in? Or did you ever find yourself reading a book that was a selection for your book club and just had to force through it because well ... you like your book club?

Really a strong 3 1/2 stars, but worth reading.
Other than the world itself, which never felt fleshed out, I found this to be a fascinating story. In this odd future, focusing entirely on the enclosed city of Chicago [being rebuilt from some unspecified past event or events] the tight focus on the characters was good, and the characters themselves were fascinating.
