I couldn't give it a fifth star only because of the somewhat schmaltzy side story in the latter part of the book, but overall this was outstanding. It's one of the few YA novels where I feel compelled to hand it to parents of teens and say "Here! Read this now!"
Mary Amato clearly understands both the power of having an urge to create, and the idea that parents and other adults may not quite understand teens. These two are both important to the story, and are wonderfully told.
