What Members Thought

This was only the second book by this author that I’ve read, but I do like her writing style. This story was entertaining, but really tested my limits for suspension of disbelief with many wild elements. Additionally, I’m not a fan of a thriller structured with the murder occurring first, and then the bulk of the narrative being about how it got to that point. Was this a thriller? Strictly speaking I would say no. It was thrilling and it definitely had some mystery aspects to it but the depth of the characters and the development in their relationships at times made me feel like I was reading a contemporary fiction. The characters were all so fully developed and real that any one of them could have stepped right off of the page. I feel like I know Laurel, which made getting into the story no hard task.
