3.8 stars
I’m having a hard time rating this one. The story was overall good.
- Eleanor was a hard to love character, as intended. I did relate to her on a small level.
- I was bored with a good chunk of the book and skimmed through those parts. Just not enough dialogue for me, but that’s more personal preference.
- The ending was great.
Not quite a 4 star book on my personal grading scale, but it was a good story, so I give it 3.8 and rounded up for Goodreads.

But it's probably the character development. I'm a character person. In order for me to

3.5 stars. Not that it isn't well written, it is; it's just a long, tedious novel and heavy subject. Appreciated the ending but not sure it was the "pay off" I needed for what felt like a slogfest of a novel. It's possible I wasn't connecting/relating to the character(s) enough, but I did appreciate the hero's journey (to a degree).
