This was a great mystery! One that I did not guess at all! The story was well plotted and kept the tension high. The friendships feel ominous, the female friends just feel like danger as they start their night with guns, drinking and always end at some strange unknown location. The feel of disorientation, the constant drinking, kept me wondering if the narrator was reliable and who all I could actually trust in the story. Flew through this original crazy story as fast as I could!
Moving to a "new" location across the country can be very stressful and challenging. Sophie has lived in this smallish town in Texas before but it's been a while. She still has a friend there but has her eyes set on another lady in the town and finds a way into her circle of ladies. They meet kind of regularly to shoot guns, drink and party. What could go wrong, right? This was a page turner and I didn't suspect the final villain until almost the end.
