I was rather disappointed in this one, possibly because I had expected to much from it and the author. I guess we can't win them all. A young girl named Ellie goes missing and thus the mystery begins; however, we learn almost right away what happened and the mystery doesn't play out for me. It was told in a Then and Now format which was okay but it was a little confusing at first. Laurel tries to find her way of living again after Ellie's disappearance but I didn't feel any true emotion from her

What is it that makes a thriller work?
Let's face it, if you've read more than one thriller, you've pretty much read them all. Still, something keeps pulling us, the readers, back to those perennial best sellers.
I love to read reviews of the big titles. AFTER I've read the book myself - I've learned the hard way, people like to spoil a book, especially if they didn't like it.
It comes down to one thing: did the magic work?
