Finally, I've come to the end of the Sunday Philosophy Club series (that is, until the author writes another installment, as I'm nearly sure he'll do). As is true for the other books in the series, this one has a gentle, unhurried way of letting the story unfold. I suppose that's why I love McCall Smith's books so much; they seem the perfect antidote to the hurry-scurry model of today's hectic lifestyle. And Isabel Dalhousie is in many ways my alter-ego, so I was sort of sad to finish this book.

I will read every single thing McCall writes. I love the Isabel Dalhousie series. I only spent one day in Edinborough, but it takes me back. Isabel and the other characters are well developed and have their own little eccentricities. In this book, Isabel's "meddling" uncovers the true character of Minty. Also, she and Jamie are now engaged!

I love AMS- his writing is the way you'd like to speak if you were a character, and it makes you want to move to Edinburgh and edit a philosophy journal. Maybe in another life...
