I enjoyed this one of the Edinburgh set series about the editor of a philosophy review paper, in parts, but it did not grab me in the ways some of the others in the series have. I definitely like the No 1 Ladies detective Agency series the best still, and wish there were more in that series to read. I also like some of his ndividual stories, but find this particular series a bit 'samey'.

Still enjoying this series. Isabel is interesting in her new life as a mother. She is still so insecure about her man in a touching slightly melancholy way. Her nosiness is still present, causing her to do and say so many "out there" things, and her interference with Cat still causes that relationship to grow distant. There is also an undercurrent of realization dawning about the gap that money can cause between folks. As always, enjoyable philosophical questions are pondered and Isabel does her

Well written, but so little new territory is covered in these books that they become frustrating. It would be nice if something happened rather than the protagonist musing unoriginally for 250 pages. Maybe I'm just stuggling with her philosophical outlook on marriage and "tying someone down."

I always enjoy Alexander McCall Smith's books. While the Isabel Dalhousie series is not my favorite of his works, it is still enjoyable. His books always leave you feeling good.
