This ludicrous tale tickled my funny bone and warmed my heart. Professor Dr Von Igelfeld has a superior attitude to his fellow human beings (especially his colleague Unterholzer) and finds it necessary to "save face" even in the most confounding and crazy situations. Each chapter of the five in this book involves at least one poor decision on behalf of Von Igelfeld. The book ends full circle with Von Igelfeld actually making peace with Unterholzer during which they make the funniest toast ever.

If you're a scholar (or just live with one, as I do) you will appreciate this dry, droll, but very human poke at the world of academia. Prof. Dr. Dr. Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld means well, but the world seems so against him. The humor in this book is not for everyone, I'll admit, but I certainly enjoy hearing the misadventures of Professor Dr. Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld.

Okay, I admit it, I picked up this book because of the weird title and interesting cover layout. But I was pleasantly surprised. It's very hard to describe what it's like but it definitely hit all the right notes with me. The protagonist is somewhat strange and yet really relatable, which is in itself also somewhat strange.
