A nice, comforting, enjoyable read. Here's a quote that sums it up:

Third in the series, and you can tell Alexander McCall Smith is settling into the format of writing and posting in the newspaper, week to week, Dickens style.
Again, this made for a perfect listening on my drive to and from work each day (despite my move, still 30 minutes each way--*sigh*). The plots are enjoyable, yet not so riveting that you run into the car in front of you.
I liked all of the characters' stories. Except poor Bertie. I wanted to wack Irene and Dr. Fairbourn the whole time. In ...more

I love Alexander McCall Smith's books more than any others. This one was typically cerebral while celebrating human frailties. The 44 Scotland Street series is not my very favorite of his, deserving only 3 stars.

This is my current gym book, for reading on the treadmill! It's perfect for that, being written as a serial.
